Guide to Gasoline Logos

The Guide to Gasoline Logos was published by Wayne Henderson and Scott Benjamin in 1997 and shows images of the logos used by various petroleum marketers over the years.

This 142-page book assembles known brand names into 49 sectional groupings. These groupings generally correspond to the present-day major oil companies and within each grouping appear the logos of known predecessors. Sections for regional independents follow the listings of majors.

Each section includes a brief historical capsule of each brand name. An alphabetical index at the end of the book permits finding a brand name when its lineage is unknown.

While this book focuses on logos and does not give images or information about road maps issued by these petroleum companies, it is an essential reference tool for anyone interested in history of petroleum marketing brand names in the United States and Canada.

Guide to Gasoline Logos may be purchased online from Amazon.com or obtained from your local book dealer. The book's ISBN is 0-965573-60-5.
